- Licence in Economics and Management
- Master in Economics and Management
- Doctorate

- Why study economics and management ?

  • Professional integration : Our vocational Master degrees have a clear objective : to facilitate the professional integration of our graduates. The pages describing the Master degrees indicate the possible career paths open to graduates. These most notably include most activities in the fields of business, banking and finance.
  • Multidisciplinary degrees : According to the student’s choices, the degree course can place its emphasis on economics, management (accounting, marketing, etc.), finance, or statistics and econometrics (the courses also include instruction in mathematics, law, history, foreign languages, and information technology).

- The three advantages of Economics and Management at the University of Cergy-Pontoise

1. Our experience of vocationally-oriented training and apprenticeship.
2. Our increasing international dimension : a Franco-American Master programme was opened in 2004.
3. A faculty team regularly rated amongst the top 3 university teams in France.

-  The Licence degree in Economics and Management has three possible specialities : economics, finance, and management. It offers two different programmes in first year (economics & management or economics & mathematics) as well as the Economics and Corporate English university diploma, and three programmes in second year (economics & management, economics & English, and economics & mathematics). There are six different programmes in third year : one in finance, one in management, and four in economics (econometrics, economics & management, economics & management (international programme), and economics & mathematics).
The Licence degree was designed to be followed by a Master degree (by itself, it does not prepare the student for the job market). No prior study of economics or management is required for admission to the Licence programme. Note, however, that these programmes are particularly suited to holders of the Bac S or Bac ES (high school diploma incorporating scientific subjects or economics and social sciences). The economics & mathematics programme is particularly geared towards holders of the Bac S (high school diploma with science).
The University Technological Institute offers a DUT (university technology diploma) in marketing techniques and vocational licence degrees in the tertiary sector.

- The Master in economics and management comprises nine specialities grouped within two majors : "finance" and "economic management, analysis and engineering". It accepts students holding a Licence in economics and management (or a similar area). The aim is to achieve favourable professional integration of the graduate, who will need to master specific skills and have the necessary perspective to adapt and ensure satisfactory career development.
In first year, five programmes are offered, allowing each student to find a course to suit his plans and academic experience, even from outside the University of Cergy-Pontoise :

  • Finance (second year for IUP (university institute for vocational training)) (3 spécialities)
  • Economic analysis (after any Licence in economics and management)
  • Economics and management (after any Licence in economics and management)
  • Econometrics (after a Licence in econometrics)
  • Managment (second year of MSG (after a Licence in management))

In second year, there are 13 Master programmes. Each speciality either has a PRO orientation (with a view to entering the job market) and/or a research (RECH) orientation, with a view to obtaining a doctorate. According to the first-year programme, the student tends to aim for one speciality or the other (refer to the list of programmes).

- Major in Finance

  • Management of financial instruments, PRO (2 options)
  • Franco-American finance programme, PRO (California State University, Stanislaus). One semester in Turlock, California, and the other in Cergy-Pontoise.
  • Financial management of local governments, PRO
  • Risk management in finance and insurance, PRO/RECH

- Major in Economic management, analysis and engineering. This major is organised in two poles :

Management pole :

  • Management and information and communication technologies, PRO
  • Management of marketing studies, PRO
  • Auditing and information systems, PRO

Economics and econometrics pole including three specialities :

  • Economic engineering, PRO
  • International economics ad economic policy, RECH
  • History of economic thought, RECH

Access to the Master programme is possible in first or second year (details of entrance requirements are given on the page for each course).

- Doctorate. After a research Master, students may embark on a doctoral thesis in the EMPO (Economie et Mathématiques Paris Ouest) doctoral school. The doctoral student is hosted by THEMA (a joint CNRS - University of Cergy-Pontoise research unit), which includes almost all of the economics and management faculty and research staff in the University.
