Presentation

Cergy-Pontoise University is ideally located in the west of Paris, in the Val-d’Oise department. It’s a short distance from central Paris (30 kms) and easy to reach. Moreover, it’s in a pleasant environment, a student area, both easy-going and dynamic, with : 22,000 students in its 14 higher education establishments, more than 44,000 firms of which 800 are foreign companies, 16 cinemas, 19 museums, 3 theatres, music halls and festivals and the Cergy-Pontoise recreational park (250 hectares, of which 150 are for water and land sports).

With 185,000 inhabitants, Cergy-Pontoise is a vibrant community offering a host of cultural, sporting and leisure activities.

Set in a natural environment characterised by the ‘blue’ of the Oise river and the ‘green’ of the many parks & gardens, the city entices visitors with a rich heritage of historic sites and modern architectural designs.

The two local news magazines "Douze comme une" and "Sortir" provide details of cultural and sporting events going on locally.
