Culture

Cergy-Pontoise University is situated in the French département of Val-d’Oise in the heart of a historical region near Paris. The area has inspired many artists, including Pissarro, Van Gog and Manet, and visitors today can enjoy the numerous museums, cultural centres and other places of interest.

As a student at the university, you are entitled to a Passe culture which gives special price reductions on thirty or so different places of interest. With the Passe culture, you will pay a maximum of €5 for an annual fee of just €5 !

Sport

Healthy body, healthy mind !

Cergy-Pontoise University offers a broad range of sports activities designed to meet your needs : open access with coaching (students receive coaching as part of their course), up to competition level.

The Sports & Physical Activities Department (SAPS) offers :

• physical activity & sports coaching for students, teaching staff and university employees ;
• organisation & monitoring of physical activities & sports for all students as part of their course, including graduate & post-graduate qualifications in sport ;
• university competition sports management in collaboration with the students’ sports association (ASUCP) ;
• coaching for top-class sportsmen and women to facilitate training during their studies. The sports department is located beneath the overpass on the Les Chênes campus and is open to all the university’s students.

For certain sports, the university has its own facilities, while the local council also provides local amenities, such as stadia and swimming pools.

The Les Chênes campus has its own sports centre, meaning that, for a modest fee, students can pursue their sports activities during their studies - as a course option or on an open-access basis.

Restaurants

You can lunch in the Versailles Academy CROUS restaurants for a national social price, fixed at €3.05 which is applicable throughout France (2011/2012 price).
To benefit from the student price, you will need to present your student card when purchasing your tickets or when going through the cash desk.
To pay your meal, you can pay, depending on the Resto’U, with ticket’Us, by credit card or electronic banking card.
The CROUS restaurants offer varied catering : Snack bar and brasserie, pizzeria, traditional catering, cafeterias, etc.
The CROUS manages five restaurants and four cafeterias at Cergy-Pontoise.
