The University of Cergy-Pontoise – UCP – is a national university along with 17 other national universities in the Paris area. The UCP is an attractive centre of teaching and research which hosts international students interested in studying in France for a semester, an academic year or a longer stay in order to obtain a degree.

The degrees

UCP offers all levels of graduate and post-graduate studies.

It has adopted the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The French higher education is based upon a common architecture called LMD relevant to the number of validated academic years following the baccalaureat, the French secondary school diploma, giving access to institutions of higher education:

  • Baccalaureat + 3 years = Bachelor = 180 ECTS
  • Baccalaureat + 5 years = Master = 300 ECTS
  • Baccalaureat + 8 years = Doctorate degree = PhD
