Planning your budget

NB single travel tickets are cheaper if you buy a pack of ten ("carnet").

You must have enough money upon arrival to cover your initial expenses. It is recommended that you open an account in a French bank. Bear in mind that the deposit for your housing - which will be the equivalent of 1, 2 or 3 months’ rent - will be payable at the same time as your first month’s rent. Your deposit cheque will be cashed, and this amount will not be returned to you until the end of your stay. Please note that you must hand in your notice letter to your landlord or residence (it is up to you to find out how long in advance this is).
